The Military & Health Research Foundation (MHRF) provides solutions to help federal agencies lower administrative costs, improve the healthcare being delivered to the military both on and off the battlefield, and develop novel innovations that will impact the field of medicine across the board. We also provide analytics that combine clinical knowledge with big data technology and techniques to transform petabytes of data into meaningful solutions for our customers.
Our Defense Health Agency customer at Joint Base San Antonio/Lackland is looking for a
candidate to produce instances of data suitable for analysis in the Google cloud. The candidate
will take ownership of bringing the data together to enable reporting and analysis activities. You
will assist the team in accessing the data and making sense of data in its raw form. Must be
comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. Supports and
optimizes the database systems that support the customer’s ability to function on a daily basis.
Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and
integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding
enhancements and/or improvements. Helps formulates policies, procedures, and standards
relating to research and database management.
The candidate will collaborate with the management and enhancement the data storage environment and help develop a long-term research strategy.
This project will leverage NIH databases, including the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Data Repositories, to allow the analysis of genomic data for disease risk. Find risk factors for pulmonary disorders from genomic and phenotypic databases by associating genomic polymorphisms with disease. Cohort and case-control analysis of existing databases which contain whole genome sequences along with phenotypic information and data from questionnaires. All of this data has been de-identified and subjects are assigned a unique GUID to ensure independent observations in the study analysis.
